Dear Hamilton East—Stoney Creek Neighbour,

Thank you for your support in the October 6th General Election. Being re-elected as your MPP for a second term is a privilege and I am deeply grateful for the trust that you have again placed in me.

It is an honour that NDP Leader Andrea Horwath (MPP Hamilton Centre) has appointed me as the NDP Critic for Government Services, Tourism and Culture and for Sport. All of these portfolios are exciting but at this juncture I look forward particularly to the Sport portfolio and the Pan and Parapan American Games in 2015. Hamilton should be the beneficiary of some long-term infrastructure projects, the legacy to be left after the Games end. I look forward to working with all concerned to ensure that these Games are the best yet and that Hamilton is left a better place for all of us to enjoy.

Although our community still suffers from closing industries, job losses and economic difficulty, I am hopeful for our future. Hamiltonians are a resilient bunch; we’ll weather the tough times and work together for the good. I will repeat my mantra – buy Local, support our own businesses and keep jobs here, where our community benefits and we can all enjoy a better quality of life.

I look forward to serving you again as your voice at Queen’s Park and in Hamilton.
