Fights for Clean Air in East Hamilton
Writes to Environment Minister demanding reversal of review decision
HAMILTON—NDP MPP Paul Miller has written to the Minister of the Environment asking that he intervene on a ministry decision to dismiss an application by Environment Hamilton to review three Certificates of Approval for ArcelorMittel Dofasco Inc.
Miller, a proponent of a secondary emissions control system said “I am sending the Minister pictures of the horrendous plume of emissions that waft over east Hamilton from this plant. Perhaps he will then understand the serious impact this pollution has on our neighbourhoods,” said Miller.
Miller’s request is supported by NDP Environment Critic MPP Peter Tabuns, who recently toured east Hamilton and met with Environment Hamilton officials to discuss this and other serious local environment issues.
“The good work of MPP Andrea Horwath, the former representative for this area, will not be left unfinished. We will continue our fight for ensure clean air for the people who call east Hamilton home,” said Miller.
