Game Not Over for Hockey Night in Hamilton
Miller, Horwath continue their support for Balsille bid
HAMILTON—NDP Sports Critic Paul Miller and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath are reminding hockey fans across Canada that the final whistle has not blown on Jim Balsillie’s bid to relocate the Phoenix Coyotes to Hamilton.
“Last night’s court decision was only a minor delay of game in the process to bring a seventh NHL team to Canada,” said Horwath. “It will take a lot more to break the spirits of the millions of hockey fans across this country.”
While the courts have rejected Balsillie’s proposal to take ownership of the Coyotes by June 29th, his bid of $212.5 million still remains the best option for the NHL.
“The people of this city are determined to bring a seventh NHL team to Canada, and I am confident that there will soon be a Hockey Night in Hamilton,” said Hamilton East—Stoney Creek MPP Miller.
Hamilton hockey fans will hit the streets on Friday for a city-wide rally on the rooftop of Jackson Square to bring the Coyotes to Hamilton. Miller and Horwath are urging hockey lovers across Southern Ontario to come out and show their support.
