McGuinty Visits Donor, Leaves Workers Out in the Cold
Miller questions Premier's priorities as US Steel lockout adds to Hamilton's job woes
QUEEN'S PARK—NDP MPP Paul Miller says Dalton McGuinty should be meeting with the 900 Hamilton-area workers at US Steel instead of touring JNE Consulting in Hamilton, a major Ontario Liberal Party donor.
“While Dalton McGuinty’s meeting with his well-connected Liberal friends, 900 people have been locked out of their jobs,” said Miller.
On the heels of devastating job losses at Siemens and Lakeport Brewery, Miller said the Premier’s priority should be ensuring that he keep good jobs in Hamilton. On Sunday, US Steel locked out 900 workers in Hamilton.
“US Steel has consistently bargained in bad faith and the Premier should do everything in his power to bring these two parties back to the bargaining table,” said Miller. “Workers at US Steel deserve better. They helped build this community. They deserve a Premier who will fight to protect their hard-earned pension and benefits – not friends and donors of the Liberal Party.”
