Miller Receives Support for NHL Team in Hamilton
MPP Congratulates Winnipeg and renews call for Hamilton-based franchise
QUEEN'S PARK—NDP Sports Critic and Hamilton East–Stoney Creek MPP stood up this morning in the Legislature to praise the return of NHL hockey to the city of Winnipeg and called on members to support an NHL team for Hamilton.
“It’s time Hamilton got in on the action and onto NHL ice!” said Miller. “There is no doubt that a franchise in Hamilton would succeed. It would be an immediate box office hit and forge strong rivalries with the neighbouring Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres.”
Miller’s Point-of-Order read:
“Speaker, on a Point of Order, I’m requesting all-party consent to support a new NHL franchise in Hamilton and I want to congratulate Winnipeg on its returned NHL franchise.”
The Members of the Legislature unanimously agreed to Miller’s request.
“The wait is over for the people of Winnipeg, now it’s time to bring an NHL team to Hamilton,” said Miller.
