Horwath Appoints Miller as Deputy, Deputy Speaker
Hamilton East—Stoney Creek MPP Third Presiding Officer of the Assembly

QUEEN'S PARK—Andrea Horwath is pleased to announce that she has appointed MPP Paul Miller, Hamilton East – Stoney Creek, as the Third Presiding Officer of the Legislative Assembly.

As the “Third Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Whole House,” or Deputy, Deputy Speaker, MPP Miller will be responsible for ensuring that the business of the Legislature is carried out and to maintain order in the Legislature.

Along with Speaker Levac, MPP Miller, one Liberal MPP and two Conservative MPPs make up the group of Presiding Officers. These Deputy Speakers will take turns in the Chair when the Speaker is unable to attend the session.

“It is a tremendous honour that our Leader Andrea Horwath has placed her trust in me to carry out these duties in a fair and balanced manner,” said Miller.
