NDP Successful on Infrastructure Funding
Horwath, Miller and Taylor help obtain extension for key Hamilton projects

QUEEN'S PARK—NDP MPPs Andrea Horwath, Paul Miller and Monique Taylor wrote to the Premier requesting an extension of the provincial funding portion for two Hamilton infrastructure projects. Hamilton City Council requested the Premier to continue provincial funding past the 31 October 2011 deadline date for the Westmount Recreation Centre and the Lower Stoney Creek Recreation Centre projects.

“The loss of Provincial funding could have caused the Federal Government to withdraw its funding as well,” said Miller, “so we wrote to the Premier, in support of the City of Hamilton Council’s request, to ask that the provincial funding be extended.”

“Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Chiarelli, responding in behalf of the government, confirmed that our request had been granted and that the Provincial portion of the Infrastructure Stimulus Funding would be extended to 31 March 2012," said Miller.
